We are a small and mighty team of designers who are passionate about delivering bespoke and innovative design solutions to suit our clients' individual needs as well as the physical context - we firmly believe that this is achieved through forging close relationships with our clients and gaining a real understanding of the people and places we are designing for.

​The practice is headed up by Yoko, who trained at the Architectural Association, University of Cambridge and the University of East London.  She set up her own practice, Ampersand Architecture in 2012, after working with Penoyre and Prasad Architects, John MacAslan and Partners, MJP Architects and Tibbalds Planning & Urban Design.  Yoko's passion is houses and housing, creating uplifting, functional, adaptable spaces as a setting for everyday life.

We have extensive combined experience in residential and mixed use projects - ranging from small scale refurbishments to residential masterplans.  We have worked with developers and housebuilders, as well as private clients wanting to make the most of their family home.

Having worked on projects within most of the London boroughs as well as local authorities beyond the capital, we are well placed to advise on planning strategy and to enter into dialogue with planning departments.  We have successfully negotiated development in Conservation Areas, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and Listed Buildings.
